DrDepth Mobile Map From Sidescan Error
« on: March 26, 2013, 10:59:29 AM »
I've been using DrDepth for a whie now to create mobile depth/hardness maps for my el cheapo Android tablet that comes out on the boat with me, has worked perfectly to date.  However I've just tried to create a mobile map from the side scan sonar image and it seems to fail every time (Map Creation Failed).  A file is created but it then can't be read by the Android app (There was a problem loading your map Code: 64)

Is there anybody out there succesfully doing this?  The only thing I can think off is maybe the size of the scan data but I've triedseveral now going down to only covering 250-300ft and stil getting no joy.

Thanks,
Paul

Did you recently update your unit and What version software do you have on it?

Probably the same issue as with the other softwares right now.  If you recently updated, the new software has changed the recording format and added a new field.  Not everyone has updated their software yet to this new format.  I am sure Per will fix it soon.  Have you contacted him thru his website yet?

Cheers Robert.  I did upgrade to 6.25 a while back but since rolled back to the version fully supported by Humviewer, DrDepth etc (I think 5.8).  I can create the side scan mosaics in DrDepth fine, it's just the export to a mobile map that fails.  I wanted to make sure this was still possible before contacting him but seeing as how nobody else is having the issue I'll drop him a line.

Thanks again.

Contacted Per and just in case anybody else has the problem there is a known bug in the DrDepth software that prevents mobile maps being created from the highest resolution sidescan tiles.  Drop it back 1 in the resolution settings and everything works fine.

Cheers,
Paul
