Can you switch which side while looking at a split screen with chart and sonar?  I would like the sonar on the right side and chart on the left. It is set up now with the chart on the right.

No you cannot.
This is set in the software and cannot be changed by the user.

this might be a good idea.
But lets not do any code changes until the stuff we have begins to work reliably.
Then maybe see aobut which side is which.
Should not be to difficult..

Also for those who complain about HB quality...try checking stuff made in China. It makes Hb look like the best in the world.
