Title: 997 looses gps lock
Post by: torque on February 09, 2017, 04:20:39 PM
Hi guys, my 997c just started loosing the gps lock when I turn off the ignition. Worked fine until recently and would hold the gps lock unless I powered it down. No change to wiring and it works good when the engine is running. Any ideas of where I should start looking for the culprit.

Thanks in advance

The GPS is one of the first things affected when you have a power problem.  When the motor is running, the voltage would be boosted because the battery is in charge mode.

See what voltage the unit displays and then check the voltage at the battery with a multi meter.  The result will tell you if the problem is a weak battery or a problem in the wiring..... With good wiring you should not have more that a couple tenth's of a volt difference between the multi meter reading and the voltage reading on the unit......A fully charged battery should read around 12.6 V at the battery.
