Topic: latest software version for 898cx SI

Guys is there any need for me to update  4.97 software to the latest version on my International 898cx SI HB as I believe it is only to fix a zooming problem in Lakemaster.

 Sorry I did see this same question somewhere but cant find it.

I looked back thru your old post and didnt see it.  What version are you running right now? 

v4.970 This release provides improved sonar performance at shallow depths. Fixes operational issues related to the 2010 version of Navionics Platinum charts Fixes course-up operation with Lakemaster charts.

v4.880 Adds AIS Accessory functionality Adds Platinum+ 3D features Adds Video Out support Improves Chart rendering speed Improves Start-up/Shutdown speed. Includes general bug fixes and system improvements.

If you are running older than 4.880, it will add a good bit.  I would probably still do the update, but if your arent having any issues, you could wait till the next update if you want.

So Robert you think I should also download 4.880 as well as the latest version. Sorry I am a bit thick in this area.
Running 4.97 at the moment..... it came with new HB

Geoff,

If you are currently running 4.970 then you are up to date and no need to update your unit.

The latest updates always contain all the earlier/prior updates as well.

So if you were at 4.850, you could install 4.970 and it would include all the updates released with 4.880 as well.

Best way is to just use keywords and user name if you know who the post was by.

Since 13.12.2010 there is a new update for 898cx Si.
Version 5.210. Should we use the new update for the unit?

Yes, thank you for bringing that to my attention.  I just assumed 4.970 was the current version since that was what Geoff was asking about.  I have also not updated the Download section here, so 4.970 is the last I have for the 898.  My mistake.

v5.210 This release provides corrections to Lakemaster related bugs experienced while zooming into levels of 2 nautical miles to 50 nautical miles.

I assume this is what Geoff was asking about in his first post. 

Again, if your unit is working fine and you have no issues related to the update, then I would have to say no, you don't need to update.
