G,day I have had my 798si for a while now and i thought it time i started getting into it a bit more, I,de like to know if its possible to create tracks/waypoints in google maps, send them to HB PC and upload them to my unit.
Just stumbled onto this forum and think its great.

Yup, you can export from GE in the .kml format, then use GPSBabel to convert to .gpx format, which HBPC recognizes. Beware of significant offsets to the GE photo data - you may want to import your own photo overlay into GE, which works really well if you have access to better aerial photos than GE provides.
Edit: - Oops, I read that as Google Earth, rather than Maps. But I think my response might still be helpful.....both GE and GPSBabel are free downloads.

Thanks for that advice. (i think)
It seems I am better at fishing than operating this machine, I gave it three hours today, and am more confused. When i converted the file from GE it still wasnt a gpx file, it said a the file name followed by.gpx however it stated it was a HWR file and HB PC wouldnt look at it. Im sure its simple once your setup ??? ??? ???

Barmic,
I tried this just this morning with some waypoints only. Set them in GE and than saved as a *.kml file. Used GPSBabel to convert them to the *.gpx file format and could open that file in HummPC. Not sure where you went wrong there.

Thanks guys It seemed i didnt select the right output file format and needed the gpx xml format, I get a strange box apearing prior to loading the file to HB PC but it loads and works a treat. Thank you :) :)
