Title: SI grid lines & update problems
Post by: 234rick on January 16, 2013, 12:54:46 PM
Just got a 798 & it will be 3 or4 months before I can use it. But I have been messing around with the simulator. When the grid lines are on 30,60,90 feet to the sides & I see something right on the 60' line & I'm in 20' of water don't I have to subtract the 20' from the 60' to get the exact distance from the transducer ? In other words wouldn't the object actually be 40' from the boat & not 60' ?

A couple of weeks ago I was trying to load a very very high priced program from the internet. I tryed 3 times & it fail each time & I was worried I had lost the program. So I unhooked from wireless & hooked my comp. directly to my modem & it worked prefect. Every web site I go to it seams like there are more post about HB upgrades failing than any other subject. I was wondering if a lot of the problems might be from peoples wireless networks. I don't think much of computor wireless but its here to stay.

If something is shown 60 feet away from the transducer, than it is 60 feet away from the transducer.  That does not mean that it is 60 feet across the surface of the water nor 40 feet (60 minus 20 foot water depth) across the bottom of the lake.  Sonar can only display the amount of time (shown as distance for us humans) some object is away from the transducer.  Have a look at the attached drawing.

234rick:
One way to check a download is to look at the file size before
you download it.  It the downloaded file size comes out as being
the same, then it's probably OK.
