I've read numerous times that Windex multi surface with vinegar is the recommended screen cleaning product. The only problem is you can't buy it in the land downunder(Australia) according to the local suppliers here. So in discovering this I thought I'd try and buy some online from your wonderful country unfortunately due to some restrictions I was unable to import from the states. I did see some suppliers but they wanted a kings ransom by the time I worked out the price with conversion and shipping. I currently use a alcohol free LCD TV solution made by Belkin(Belkin pure AV) My questions are, is this a suitable alternative or is there anyone out there who knows where I can source some Windex to OZ at a reasonable rate? I do have a mate in San Francisco who may be able to send some over but its getting all a bit to hard. Any suggestions out there. Mark

I just add a little white vinegar to my Windex glass cleaner. It is my understanding that the vinegar is a mild acid and this is what you need to remove the water spots that are caused by the minerals in the water.

I am sure the Belkin product is fine. I think that the Windex with Vinegar came about when HB had a special coating on the early units that could be ruined if you used a harsh product on it. I think it has just stuck around as the "safe" way to clean your screen. I would not stress about getting it imported. If the Belkin product works, go with it!

Just use a water & vinegar solution. Doug Vahrenburg recommends that on one of his humminbird tutorials on youtube. I think that is all windex multi-surface w/ vinegar is anyways (water & vinegar).
I'd strongly recommend avoiding the previous suggestion from N9Phil. The reason they don't want you using any of the regular windex, is because it contains ammonia, which will harm your screen. If all you do is add vinegar to it, you're still putting ammonia on your screen.

I would like trying rainx on screen but I'm skeered and (not going to). Rainx works great on sunglasses and boat windshields

I take a small spray bottle like you get when you buy a new pair of glasses. pump just a little hand soap in it and mix water with it. I use this with a micro fiber cloth. Works great, no chemicals to mess the screen up.

Have been using vinegar in a spray bottle, spray downwards to remove most of the salt, dirt etc, then use a paper serviette to wipe the screen clean and dry ;D.

LOL Im a southern boy from Texas mako101 I had to Google the word serviette I was curious and wanted to know what in the world a serviette was.

Dieago, Microfiber cloth works but after using it several times you are just rubbing the salt and dirt back on the screen, much easier to use a clean paper serviette each time, they only cost a few cents each.

If any fibre cloth is used make sure to wash it after several (2) uses. The wet surface you are cleaning will cling to the cloth and eventually become abrasive.
I had to google serviette also. These may be great and small and throwaway. They did not appear to be very expensive. I will probably get a box. Chuck

I understand Mako I just had no idea what the word serviette was. never ever heard that word here in the states.

I had to google it too :) Ya I bought a pack of like 6 micro fiber cloths for under ten bucks. I love them when your done the screen looks new no streaks. I put them in a zip lock and yes about once a month they go in the wash. Depending on how much I get out.

When I mentioned that I just add vinegar to my Windex is because the Windex that I used did not list ammonia as an ingredient. It seems like the new Windex does not use ammonia in the formula.

Hmmm, sounds like mostly alcohol and antifreeze......I thought alcohol was bad for the screens.

We prefer to not use the Windex with the blue dye. Instead the Windex clear with vinegar. Chuck
