I just receive my new 1197 NVB unit and was checking out the different Gold+ charts and noticed Lake Michigan had no detail, but the other Great lakes did. I have Lake Michigan in the South Mantou Island area, but nothing south of of it. Shouldn't it be part of the bundle of built in charts? I have all the Hotmaps and everything else. Loaded the 4.75 version down and everything else appears to be working.

The NVB maps were meant to be for inland lake use only (Navionics considers the Great Lakes to be part of the coastal “Marine Chart” information). So some areas on the Great Lakes may not show any map information.

If that was known at the time of purchase I would not have spent the money. I would have went with the cheaper unit and purchased a gold chart (2010) card instead getting all the Great Lakes. The NVB bundle is like not telling the whole story. Thanks for the information. There is nothing in the ad that says the maps are the Gold edition from many years ago. I expected to see the current Gold editon of Navionics on a new unit.

I have emailed them and demanded that they send me a 1XG or 2XG gold chart 2010 card for the missing lakes. Lake Michigan is a pretty big lake to miss. They referenced the Navionics GOLD charts link for the lakes that were build into the NVB unit. The 1XG or 2XG GOLD charts are the only charts available on that link. In either one of those you get the US portion of the Great Lakes. They do detail out the local fishing lakes listing (N,S,E,W), They should have done that for the Great Lakes. I feel like they are doing a slide of hand trick. I would have purchased the regular unit and a GOLD chart card separate. Other than that I think the unit is great. I will pursue this.
