Hi!
I'm not sure what you are meaning with your older files. Are these your own recordings, or did you get .son -files from someone else?. Recordings from Humminbird units does also contain .dat -files which you can view with for instance "Humviewer". Which works with win 7.

Am I totally wrong here!? Do you mean that you want to view your own files that you have recorded? If so, you can use the link above.

Actually they are just files I saved and wont let me view them now not from some body else. It wont let me run the videos or play any boo files XTF files etc. I was out with a injury so I am just now getting things together and need the correct installer application to view my files. I used to be able to just click on let it run its course so I could watch or stop or print or what ever. I just don't want to install the incorrect viewer. Its a one time download that does it all if I am correct I think. Thanks again, Hollywood

Hmm. That's weird.  Well, first of all, you should not be able to open the .son and .idx -files in humviewer. But the r00013 should be the right file. If it has the ending ".dat" which I think?

Oh, It hit me now. I couldnīt go sleeping. So I will better tell you right now what I think might be the solution.

Are you opening the files directly, i.e not opening them thru humviewer?

If then, the association is not there.

You might be able to associate the file with humviewer by searching a program from a list when trying to open the files. Then you should search for Humviewer.

DO ONLY use the one with ending ".DAT" (e.g: r00013 as above)

I think that the "ordinary" way of open them is thru the program. Like this:

1. Open Humviewer
2. Once in the program you should press file>open
3. Search for your file (r00013) and press open.

FINISH

Got it thanks the vids open and read well Program works fine.  Now the other files that are not vids wont open the boo and such. How do I open those or are they just the waypoints saved. (Sorry to bother you but this issue I have sometimes confuses me until I can get it straight in my head.) Is there a sort of manual that I can read to assist me in this? If not I can see if someone else can help me some more. Thanks for your time buddy, Hollywood

Hi again!

Nice to hear that it works now. I'm not so sure about what all files contains. Someone else has to write that, or maybe confirm my statements.

There are 4 ".SON" -files per recording.

B000.SON; This contains the downlooking 83kHz beam info
B001.SON; 200 kHz downlooking beam info
B002.SON; Left side side scan view
B003.SON; Right side scan view

There are also 4 ".IDX" -files which i think is for waypoints, tracks etc ( GPS information?)

I do not think you need to open the separate ".SON" -files because you will get all info from the ".DAT" -file. However, there are some viewers out there where you need these files separate. But thats another story.
