Technical information on Humminbird Ethernet,
« on: August 22, 2013, 08:20:13 PM »
Hello,
Are there any in depth technical resources available on the Humminbird implementation of Ethernet?

I'd like to know things such as the assigned IP addresses for each device and how they are determined (including the Minnkota)

Can the factory assigned IP address and Subnet Mask be changed in the field to what I would like?

Basically can I put the boat in the garage, connect the Humminbird/Minnkota devices to my home network and manage waypoints, tracks etcetera from my home computer? (I do realise I'd need the Humminbird 5 Port switch and I'd need to make up a Humminbird Etherent to RJ45 cable to see two sounders and the Minnkota simultaneously)

I'm not keen or ready to change my home network to match a piece of equipment when a piece of Ethernet enabled equipment should be able to be made to match any existing network.

Thanks,
Geoff
