Greg-- Welcome back !
« on: August 12, 2014, 08:38:33 PM »
" (I just can’t believe they allow anyone to have vacation! LOL!). "

Welcome back from a week where you didn't have to come into work--- aka--- VACATION.

sfw is right: it was someone from our Customer Resource Center that was on vacation.  I was conducting a solder training class last week; but I do have vacation that I have to use up before the new fiscal year starts in October.  So I’ll be missing here and there for the next six weeks or so.  I’m thinking that taking every Friday off would be good!

Sorry 'bout that Greg. Somehow I interpreted one of your previous post as you would be on vacation last week.
I'll try to do better.

Greg

I'm ten years into "a day full of doing whatever I want!" and it's the best job I've ever had.
What I can't understand is where all this "work around the house" came from. It wasn't here when I was working. I think.

I've always heard than when you retire that there is this monstrous "honey-do" list that magically appears...  :o

Greg

Before she retired, my wife managed an office with 200 employees. She is used to giving orders and things getting done. Many mornings I receive
a "honey do" list. I look it over, tell her it's nice, and stick it in my left pants pocket. Have another cup of coffee, then reach in my right pants pocket,
take out the list I made and go to work. Note that list may not look anything like hers.

    Some things I've noticed:
While doing job "A", job "B" and "C" show up.
While doing job "B", job "D" and "E" show up.
While doing job "C", job "F" and "G" show up.  I see a pattern here.

Most jobs take 4 to 6 times the allotted time planned, but you don't care because your retired.

Most jobs allow time to stop part-way thru and visit with the neighbor or friends that stop by.

Many jobs, no matter how well planned, will at least involve a couple trips to the store for parts, but you don't care because your retired.

        The list goes on.....

I’ll have to keep that all in mind Mike if I can ever afford to retire which won’t be for some time.

BTW: I’ll be here and gone until at least the end of September.  I’ve got some training classes I have to conduct, at least one day out of town this week and I still have vacation to use up before then.  So if I don’t reply to a post for a few days I’ll try and catch back up when I get back on-line.
