Make sure that the Aux Temp Sensor is plugged all the way in.
See if you can test someone else’s unit on your boat to see where the problem is (sensor or unit).

i'm starting to think it might be a bad sensor
it shows up on the menu as connected but if i unplug it there is no response
next i'm going to test it with an ohm test but i think it might be a bad sensor(maybe somebody dropped it or something before i got it for my birthday a yr ago) but it has not worked for a while now
kmed

what readings am i looking for with a test?

About 10K Ohms at room temperature (72 degrees).  If it is hotter the readings will be lower and if it cooler the readings will be higher.  Sorry, i don;t have a chart of what you should get for different temps.  It is a standard 10K Ohm thermistor.

kmed2,
Is that 13.45 Ohms of 13.45K Ohms?
If it is only 13.45 Ohms than there is some sort of a short in it.

13.45k Ohms would be in the ballpark if the temperature was more than 72 degrees.  I don’t know how hot or cold it was up there in the L.O.W. but that may not rule out the temperature sensor yet.  Maybe it is a connection problem.  Look at the sockets in the unit’s connector and compare them to those of the other connectors.  Do they look any more worn or bent out of shape?  You could try to very gently bend the gold pins on the Aux Temp Sensor outwards away from each other to increase the contact pressure between the sensor and unit connections.  Otherwise I think you will need to replace the Aux Temp Sensor.

You should still be good kmed2,  Call the Humminbird Customer Resource Center folks and explain what has happened, what you have tried and how long this has been going on.
