Hi All. First post here. Earlier this year I got myself an Adventure Island Kayak then a couple of months ago got a decent deal at the Sydney Boat Show on a on a Humminbird 798ci SI unit. I spend some time trying to figure out how to mount the transducer and finally came up with this-
Custom transducer bracket fitted to aka bar.

I've found that the kayak stays fairly flat and keeps the transducer nice and level unless the wind gets right up. Then I've got other thinks on my mind anyway. At higher speeds I sometimes need a bungee around the top of the transducer bracket to keep it vertical. However it ususally just stays where I leave it. If it does hit an object it will kick up to prevent damage.
The Adventure Island Kayak is usually propelled by either sail or pedal powered MirageDrive fins and tracks a fairly straight course with constant speed. With the transducer mounted out to the port side I also seem to miss any turbulence from the MirageDrive.
Here's a few images I've captured in and around the Parramatta River close to home-
