Sonar viewing software opinions
« on: October 28, 2011, 11:15:43 AM »
If you take price (if applicable), out of the equation:
What is the best software currently available to view Humminbird Sonar Recordings.
What give the absolute best image clarity?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I use all free software and i cant see a great difference in image clarity, only in the tools.
Now it is time that HB create a own recording software, the HB SI-class is more as only a fishfinder !

while there are a lot of "viewers" out for side image and scan the user may have to get a conversion from HB file to the viewer expected file type. Some viewers do this but others do not support HB formats.
so when selecting a viewer make sure to check compatable file type or converters needed.
these converters may have to be written by another person so check closely..
Check the downloads section here for those available on this forum.....

I use Picasa (free from Google) and it works for me. But I've never tried anything else.

Am I misunderstanding "viewer". I put saved screenshots on Picasa all the time. Or are you talking about a video?

Hi

You can record not only screenshots, but all the action on your screen. Which is then stored on your memory card and you can then use tex. HumViewer look at the PC at home and evaluate.

OK, I for one am not sure where this going or supposed to go.  The replies appear to be cryptic at least to me, I am not understanding what is the replies are about (could be I am just dummer then a box of rocks).

It there are different software out there for viewing Humminbirds recordings, it would be nice to have a list and where to get them.  Currently I have used the 2 basic programs - Humviewer and Yellowfin.  I am hoping that some day to find software that will emulate all of the Humminbird screens including mapping.

I would be willing to purchase the right software.

George

George, there are several other viewers that come to mind..
Most of which require conversion of the HB file type...

SI View and DeepView are two of the others we use...
