Humminbird Interlink
« on: February 07, 2012, 06:52:40 PM »
I have the Interlink system on my boat. It hooked up my 997 & 798 & worked great. I sold the 798 to buy a 898c SI Combo...is the current Interlink I have compatible hooking up the 997 w/898?
My 2nd question, the guy across the street has 2 788 units & is looking to purchase the Interlink. He went on Amazon & they list the AS Interlink Network Connectio for $104.60. Do all AS Interlinks come w/puck & wiring or does he have to watch for stores selling the Interlink only to find out later he has to buy the puck and wiring seperately?

The InterLink (the only one we have made) is compatible with the 997 and 898 units as long as you are running the most current software in both units.

The AS-InterLink does not come with a “puck” (do you mean a GPS Receiver?).  It comes with the InterLink module box, 4 cables and some mounting hardware.  We sell only one version of the InterLink and have always sold only the one version.  If he needs a GPS Receiver he will have to purchase that separately – but his 788 units should have come with GPS Receivers whether they be internal or external.  Which model 788 units does he have: 788c, 788ci, 788ci HD, or 788ci HD DI?

I'm sorry...I meant to answer Greg's post but there's a lot going on here. Let me explain my set up. I have a 997ci SI Combo & a 798ci SI Combo hooked up with the Interlink. The Interlink came with the unit, puck & wiring & once installed...all 3 units (997/798/Interlink) have worked perfectly from day one. So since Greg is on Humminbird's staff & clearly knows what he's talking about when it comes to all of Humminbird's products...I'm confused from his post...we didn't buy the puck separately...the 997 & 798 have internal antennas & everything is connected with the puck. Greg, you're saying the puck isn't needed, so now what advice do you have? I of course want to get this right but like I said...the Interlink is working perfectly.

I still don't know what "puck" you're talking about.

The same kind of puck (antenna) that comes w/Humminbird that doesn't have the internal antenna

Irishrover,
The InterLink did not come with a GPS puck as we do not package and sell them that way.  Your 997 unit came with an external GPS puck as that is the only way that we packaged and sold them.

To answer your question about your original 2nd question: No.  those 788 units should have come with either an internal GPS Receiver in each of them or with an external GPS Receiver.  Not sure without knowing the exact model name of the particular 788 units that he has.  If they have an “I” in the model name than they have an internal GPS Receiver (Example: 788ci,  788ci HD or 788ci HD DI).

Greg, did HB make an external GPS 788?  I thought these were internal units only.
I cant find one anywhere...All I see is the 788ci units..

Yes we did Chuck.  The older 2009 and 2010 catalogs showed them as being available as either internal or external GPS models.

OK, just could not find any references to them. I guessed they were older models not available any more...Just a bit hard to find documentation...

Probably the only reference to it would be an older version of the operations manual, an install guide or possibly listed as a unit to be used with some of the accessories.  Since we are not actively making them now the information would be hard to find Chuck.

We need a library here to have and hold old manuals, code.  I think they are called legacy products.
These thing still work and some may not need the newest stuff.
Something else for you to do Greg..... 8)
