Title: Mounting another transducer on trolling motor is the AS SIDB Y the correct cable
Post by: Brian37075 on March 03, 2013, 10:06:16 PM
I've researched on Humminbirds website and believe the AS SIDB Y is the correct Y cable to not use a switch. I will be adding another XHS-9-HDSI-180-T to my 1198 si . How will my unit no which one I'm wanting to view. My GPS antenna is in the front of the boat and when I mark a spot I'm automatically 20-ft from my transom mounted transducer. I thought this would narrow the room for error. Question is is this the correct Y cable for this application.

Also sometimes my unit won't turn off and I need to unplug to get it to power down. What would cause this?

Brian,
To be able to select which transducer your 1198c Si unit is going to use for the Si sonar you will have to use a TS3 Transducer Switch.

The AS-Si-DB-Y cable is only for use when you want to use a second transducer as the source for the 2D sonar that your Si unit will use.

Sounds like you either have some damage to the transducer cable of your transducer or GPS Receiver cable or that the power switch is starting to fail.

Thanks for your help, so I will need the switch instead of the cable.

Hate to hear that about my switch. Unit is less than a year old probably only used 15 times in the last 9 months. I would have hoped for the money it would have lasted longer. Pretty sure the cable is fine it would be difficult to damage it I would think.
