While watching the Bassmasters Classic on the internet today, Jeff Kriet was interviewing the anglers at the takeout ramp.
While talking with Coby Carden, I noticed on the console what appears to be a HB 1198 sitting next to a Lowrance HDS-10.
Later while looking at the link below, I noticed what appears the be a HB 998 and a Lowrance HDS-10 at the bow.
Anyone have any thoughts on that?

I have seen a few bass fisherman that use both units. Mike I'm sure you would know that each company shines in its own catergories. ;D These are guys that have huge sponsorships and make tons of cash and want to be on that cutting egde of technology in every aspect. I mean jeez this guy has a full time photographer on his boat, and he has a photographer taking photos of his photographer taking photos of him!! You know darn well you'd love to have an L on your rig so you could do some direct comparisons. I bet if we started a pot on here everyone would chip in on an L unit for you so you could go out and do some research. :D

Thanks for the offer on the collection for the Lowrance, but I just checked the "fish fund" and there's enough left to buy any unit I want.
I have attended a few Classics personally and watched many, many more on TV and the internet, and that was the first time I recall seeing
both companies product on a Classic rig at the same time. Just struck me as unusual.
I have owned product from both companies. Lowrance starting just after "the green box" and HB was a "super sixty".

My guess is it's his way of saying.....OK, one of you guys pony up some free units and I will get rid of the other one.

That was also my guess, but when you are competing at that level any little trick can make for a BIG payday.
$300,000. for first place, $45,000. for second, I'm not holding anything back.
Randy used a sponsors and non sponsors lure. Props to him for the truth. Other anglers have been know to get in the "gray" area.
