xducer swap?
« on: April 23, 2019, 01:31:26 PM »
just got the Helix 9 mega DI without xducer to run with my Ultrex coming today.  Now I'm wanting to get a Helix 9 chirp mega SI with transducer for the console....my question is, I have read and seen some videos about guys doing a transducer swap with HB.

Is the Helix 9 chirp mega SI one of the units where you would benefit from an exchange of the transducer that comes with it?  Coming out of the 898si and the 859 that has served me well over the years.  Cant wait for the new setup.

thx for any help all

HELIX 9 CHIRP MEGA SI comes stock with the best xducer for that model  ...

Exchange would only be if you needed the trolling motor mount or thru hull mount (drill a 1" hole)  ...

I am running a Ulterra T/M and I just bought the Helix 8 mega DI CHO just to run with my T/M. However last time out my trusty 899 on the console, went out to lunch and has not come back. So I am going to run the 8 on the console till I can save up the required funds for a Helix 12 mega. Then the 8 goes up front with the 12 and the current Helix 9 mega that is on the bow will go to the console. You will be very pleased with the 9 on the console. I have networked all of my units and the T/M. So when I get the 12 I will be set for a while. I will say this there is a very large learning curve, I thought that I could jump right into the Helix with no problem but with all of the new things you can do with it its over whelming. If you want to have two units up front as I do Ricky makes some very and I mean very nice transducer fixtures.

I was wonder if the layout was the same, sounds like just more to offer.  Loved the 898.  I could pick out crappie in laydowns and structure with ease.   This mega unit has me excited both bow and console.
