AS-GPS HS
« on: January 16, 2014, 10:21:45 PM »
Just received new 998 HD SI w/version 6.68. I have an existing 898c si on console w/version 6.49 installed, and am happy with its performance. GPS puck is AS GR50 on rear deck. I understand the 998 will recognize AS-GPS HS. Will the 898 recognize AS-GPS HS as a regular GPS, thereby not having to update software. I don't want to change software, therefore no Ethernet. Would like option of swapping head locations.

Maybe Greg will check in and clarify this for you, but I doubt the 6.49 unit will be able to use the HS GPS....could be wrong.
Maybe run the new release for a while and see how it performs for you.....especially when using the 83Khz sonar.....If it is OK, you could update the old unit.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**

I think the AS GPS HS antenna requires 6.570 or higher...

The unit will not even recognise the puck at all without this version...
