How do I save the update to my SD Card? When I download the file using Firefox I don't see where it allows it to save it to the SD Card. I also want to know if this is the correct file 590325-1_v6_300_3e525e03cdd14d2a880783f948549d77.bin
It is showing it listed as a VLC media file and is attached to this post. Is this correct?
I have never updated my unit and want to make sure that I do it correctly.

My updates are automatically saved in Computer/Favorites/Downloads. Using Windows 7, that is. Right click on the bin file and you should be able to SEND TO the drive that the SD Reader/writer is attached.

That looks like it would be the right file name for the 6.300 software update for a 798ci Si model unit.
I would try right-clicking it like gixxer01 said and saving it to the SD memory card.
Your computer downloaded it somewhere. Try using My Computer or some such program and do a search for it. You should be able to copy it to the SD card from there as well.

It is a .bin file. If something named it differently then it wont load on your unit..

According to the image he posted; it was saved as a *.bin file.

the image showed it as a VLC media file. I guess that was the pic file. The complete file name was not on the image...
So,..... wanted to make sure he did not rename the file...to something other than a .bin....The name left of the .bin can be anything but it must be a file type of .bin.......

Look again Chuck.
Second line just after “VLC media file” in the parentheses it states “(.bin)
I had to open the image in picture viewing software and zoom in on it just to read it! ;D

Yep saw that and had to do the same to view. ;D... :P I was just trying to make sure he did not get the type changed by some quirk of the download or copy program and end up with a different file type..

In Firefox go to:
Tools
Options
General....
Under downloads select:
"Show The Download Window When Downloading a File"
"Always Ask Me Where to Save Files"
Then you can always pick where you can save files..... 8)
For instance I always save my HB update files to a special folder on my remote server so I always have all versions archived.... ::)
Then I can just copy them over to an SD card as I need them....

Also the *.bin file is trying to run in the program that all *.bins are associated with on your computer and that is VLC. Probably not the best choice. With Win7 you can change that by clicking Start, then, Control Panel & going where the attached picture shows. A Bin file is a binary file used as a program. They are used in many programs to update or control things. Make sure you don't double click a *.bin unless you know for sure you have it in the right destination or it can raise H**L with your PC. They are used for updating firmware and BIO's in many electronics. If you don't know where the file went on your pc click Start, then where it says "search programs and files" start typing the file name. When you find it, then click on it with the right mouse button, then look for "open file location" and it will take you to where it is stored.
