Title: Interlink making me crazy
Post by: wbwilly8751 on May 31, 2011, 06:42:46 PM
My interlkink is driving me nuts! Can I ethernet a 898si with a 797si or a 788ci?

The 797c Si unit cannot use the Ethernet as it does not have the connector for this nor the internal circuitry.
The 788ci cannot either for the same reasons unless it is really a 788ci HD or 788ci HD DI model and than it can.

What are your problems with the InterLink?

Greg, I keep getting alternating messages..." Interlink is Connected " and then
" Interlink is disconnected ". It just keeps flashing from one to the other every ten seconds or so. Right now I've simply unplugged everything ... it all works but I'd like to be able to share data.

Are you running the latest software in both units wbwilly8751?
If not load the newer software this way:
- Save the Nav Data from both units (if it is different on each unit or just from one unit if both units share all waypoints) to your computer.
 - Delete the Nav Data off of the SD memory card so that it is blank.
 - Delete the Nav Data from both units and the InterLink.
 - Disconnect both units from the Interlink (and if you have them: WeatherSense, Nav Weather Receiver, Remote Sonar Link).
 - Perform a software update in both units (if there is any) or the same software version that they have now.  So folks have found that they have to load an older version of software first and than load the newer software to get this to work.  Be sure that you only have one software update file on the SD card at a time; so if you are using only one SD memory card you will have to delete the software update file you used for the first unit before copying the software update file for the second unit to the SD memory card.  I can provide you with the older software for the 788ci unit if needed.
 - Reconnect the unit that was plugged into the Port 1 connector on the InterLink, to the InterLink again.
 - Power this unit on and allow it to update the InterLink.  Be sure to set it to participate in the InterLink system the way you want it to.
 - Power this unit off and reconnect the second unit.
 - Power both units on and set the second unit to participate in the InterLink the way you want it to.

This will also reset the InterLink as well.
