Can someone walk me through a setup just to get the 998 to read either of its transducers? GPS works temp depth. Just no pictures on sonar or side imaging

I just replied to your other post Austin358.
You need to get the connectors out of that AS-Si-DB-Y cable first.
There are no menu settings that have to be made when using the AS-Si-DB-Y cable.

Ya I took them out of the y and still nothing. I'm confused as Iam not new to boat electronics and why this is happening. Thanks for the help

Are you testing the unit on the water or sitting on the trailer...??

Ok I've spent the last 2 days on the water. I took the y cable off and plugged the si transducer in by itself and it Worked!! Then I tried plugging in the shoot thru hull and it doesn't work at all. The unit acknowledged it was there but it just shows a solid line about 3/4 of the screen. Now new problem. Si seems to work good regular sonar works good but down imaging doesn't. If you switch from a different screen to the di screen it shows it was working but as soon as it starts moving on the screen it just goes solid. If you change any of the adjustments it works while the adjustment screen is up. You make a adjustment then close screen then it craps out. ???

It sounds like something is wrong with the shoot thru hull transducer; either in the transducer itself or in its mounting. It will need to be removed, tested and possibly replaced. You can test it be removing any remaining epoxy and holding it over the side of the boat in the water, while drifting, and see if you get a good depth reading or not.
This new problem that you have; what transducer is plugged up to it when that happens?

I si transducer is the only one that is hooked up. I got rid of the splitter. I hooked just the si in and the unit worked for the first time. Then I unhooked the si and plugged the shoot thru in. I get no reading at all on the sonar screen. Also how do I enable the contour xd maps?

So it still sounds like you have a problem with the shoot thru hull transducer. Remove and test and/or replace it.
The ContourXD maps are automatically shown unless you are also using a mapping card – then it will display the maps from the mapping card (if there is any for that area).
