built-in Humminbird ContourXD
« on: October 20, 2014, 04:34:46 PM »
Hello all,

So am I the only one that's not impressed by the built-in Humminbird ContourXD maps. I thought there would be a bit more detail (contour lines) for the major lakes. Am I doing something wrong or is one or two lines all you get? If so I guess a map card is in my future.

Thanks,

Mark

Contour XD is a compilation of 3000 lakes included at no extra charge from HB ...

It replaced the Unimap in the larger units that included 0 (zero) lakes....

It is very unlikely your home lake is in the list ...

Of the very few reports I've read of lucky users that their home is covered...they say it's fairly good...

RVINC,

I'm talking about the lakes that are covered (Gaston, Kerr in NC)

Thanks,

Mark

I would have thought a lake that was covered in the Contour XD would have better detail than you are describing...

Then again, I would have also thought one of the largest man made lakes in the country would have been on the list ... (My home lake of Ky Lake)...

So how do you get this Contour XD to work? I looked at my area and there is quite a few on there that I could try. How did they pick which lakes to detail?  I'm surprised with both the lakes that are on the list and some that I would have expected to see.

Make sure you set you Chart Detail to 'ALL' and your
spot soundings to 'Visible'.
You may not be seeing all you can see.

Thanks ITGEEK,

That's the info I was looking for.

I will try that when I get home Thursday.

If you have LakeMaster coverage of your area - I would highly recommend a map card!
I my 4th (I sold one) LakeMaster will be coming in the brown truck tomorrow.

These were set

Chart Detail to 'ALL' and your
spot soundings to 'Visible'

Same detail, guess I need a map chip, very disappointing.
