What is the difference between the 999ci HD and 999si HD? What does the SI and CI mean as I am unable to find a comparison online.

The "C" indicates color display and "I" indicates internal GPS. As far as I know, there was only one model of the 999 which was the 999ci HD Combo model. The earlier series xx8, xxx8 models did not have internal GPS. You would still have capability to use an external GPS receiver with all models including the current models.

IM pretty sure my model was a 998 CSI and it DID NOT have an internal GPS. It did has Side Imaging and I believed the SI stood for Side Imaging as DI stood for Down Imaging

The "ci" referenced in the OP's question refers to color (c) and internal GPS (i). SI has always only indicated Side Imaging for all applicable models. Not aware of any models before the xx9/xxx9 series that had internal GPS. The correct model designation for the 999 is 999Ci HD SI.
