problem navigating back to cursor
« on: February 12, 2012, 09:43:09 PM »
I have an 898 si and I'm having trouble when I'm en route to a waypoint and I mark structure on the sonar or the sideview and mark it with the cursor and hit go to it won't stop navigation to the previous waypoint and when I try to cancel navigation it tells me the waypoint is part of a route and I can't stop navigation. The only way I can stop it is to go to the chart page and hit skip next waypoint. Is this normal or is my unit malfunctioning ?  Thanks

Hmm.. I've never really tried to mark waypoints while using the navigation.

First check to see if the Continuous Navigation Mode menu is set to On or Off.  Set it to Off and see if that helps any.

Not sure about the waypoint being a part of a nonexistent route… what software version are you running?  Try resetting the menus back to the factory defaults (Restore Defaults menu).

I tried turning off the continuous navigation already and that didn't change anything.

Dover I think you may have confused the unit you are en route to a waypoint that is you started from point A going to
point B. While Nav. you mark A structure now you added a waypoint an made a route so you hit go to now the unit is confused because it is still nav.to the original waypoint. Next time out while en route to a  waypoint  mark a new structure but don't
hit go to. Also while navigating to a waypoint you could hit cancel Nav. then mark your new waypoint then hit go to you will
be fine. Then you could return to Nav.to the 1st waypoint  I really think your unit is working right in my IMHO. But I have been wrong before.  Gary
