Title: Helix 7SI mapping settings
Post by: 35wailin on May 23, 2017, 02:09:55 PM
What settings should i use on my Helix 7 SI to maximize the area that I am mapping while out on the water?

I am using AutoChart Pro and it can use the sidescan data as well.

I was out on a lake last friday and got what seems to be about a 40' swath of bottom with the sidescan on and shooting out over 100' per side.

Also, the map, when created on the computer is about 50 yards on shore instead of in the lake on the map.  I assume this is a GPS calibration or a setting I need to adjust on the Helix or the AC Pro?

Your water level must be set as  I have found out or I an driving on land also. This is very important for me as I fish tidal rivers a lot. I have found the when mapping you get about fifteen to twenty foot of coverage. For example if I am mapping a 50' to 60' wide river I will need to zig zag or make three passes. The more coverage you can get the more detailed you map will be. If I am not mistaken you get your mapping comes from 2D recordings, Si is  separate. There is a set of CDs you can get from Lake Images that explain very well. I bought them and they helped a lot. I am not pushing there products, but they helped me as I am technically challenged.
