Title: solix G1 to G2
Post by: danlaboucane on February 16, 2021, 04:32:20 AM
hey guys , looking to get two solixs , would like all new but too much $$ , i was thinking a used SOLIX 12 SI G1 for the console (15 is really big) and a 12- 15 bow for mega 360 (15 is target ) may have to get a new one  .
the console unit would use rear transducer and  a front MSi on diy bracket that would hold the M360 too , if i go solix i will be able to get SIDI2D on bow unit from the ethernet connected console unit ? right . with the front MSI transducer i would use that for 2D/DI for deep jigging and SI when going too fast for 360 on the trolling motor .
why is the 360 limited to 5-6 MPH ? just to see the images or could i damage it ? when trolling for musky i will go up to those speeds for a good amount of time and don't want to damage it but would like SI images from the front of the boat !and trolling in general i think could be beneficial to have SI from the front 19' from the back .
what is the real difference MSI+ over MSI ? noticable ?
i need an HSGPS to see and mark waypoints on 360 right ?
thanks for your help .

MEGA 360 only works connected to a SI MEGA+ or DI MEGA+ so that means SOLIX G2 or G3 (SOLIX G1 is only MEGA - not MEGA+)  ...

As long as you connect the stock xducer to the head unit it came with - you will be able to share everything between the SOLIX generations thru ethernet  ...

The speed recommendation is more for optimal image clarity instead of damage control  ... over 2-3mph and the images are most likely going to create skewing in the 360 image  ...

Specs for difference in MEGA and MEGA+ is more range and 20% more detail - but I doubt the detail difference is that discernible  ...

Correct you need a heading sensor (not included with the MEGA 360 package) in the system to be able to mark waypoints on the 360 view  ...

Thanks Rickie , i know i need a G2 for mega 360 and that is why i might get new if i cannot find a good deal used , maybe when the G3 is out everywhere i i could be lucky and get a deal , i am not in too much in a hurry but committed to this set-up since its been in my head for a while . i will have fun whit

If someone has a 15 G2 for sale or later will get a G3 i am a serious buyer but will not pay brand new price for a used one w/out warranty !
