Title: Standard SI transducer and XNT 9 DI T
Post by: promapper on May 20, 2013, 12:55:47 PM
I have replaced my TM with one that has a built in Sonar head so I now have an a extra transducer which is the XNT 9 DI T.

Can I use the standard SI transducer for SI low speed and the XNT 9 DI T for high speed on the 998 units?

Yes.  Technically you can use the XNT-9-DI-T transducer for the 200kHz 2D sonar on the 998 units but it will not work at the 83kHz frequency.  You will find that the 200kHz sonar is weaker and you will have to turn up the Sensitivity in your 998 unit to get the same signal strength as you would connected to the standard 200/83kHz transducers.

How is it that you have an extra XNT-9-DI-T?
You did not connect a DI model unit to the US2 sonar of the trolling motor did you?

Mmmmm, from the tone of your text I would say that the 596 unit is not compatible with the US2 sonar?  Minnkota shows it in their compatibility chart.

I have not connected it yet but yes it was my intention.  Tell me more!

The 596c and 596c HD model units are fully compatible with the US2 sonar.

The 596c HD DI (you list a 596-DI under your profile) is not compatible with the US2 sonar.  Connecting it to the US2 may actually cause damage to some of the internal electronics as the connections to the DI sonar will not be made.

Profile corrected.  It is an HD-DI that I have.  The US2 would be a nice to have item but I was more interested in the rest of the package...I-Link, foot peddle, better deployment than the power drive.

Thanks for the heads up Greg.
