Humminbird does not start...
« on: March 16, 2010, 12:23:57 PM »
I tried to update my 1197 cx with the new down imaging software (M1197.4_750). When I transfered file to Humminbird it suddenly shut down itself and it does not start again anymore. Now when I try to press start button it shows "Loading" but nothing happens (last 30 min.). What should I do...!???

Master reset?
Factory settings?

Hello Mike and welcome to the forum!

Looks like your unit is locked up due to the power loss during the update process.

You can try to unlock the unit using the "Bootstrap Mode". I wrote a "How To " here: http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=661.0.

Make sure you have sufficient power to keep the unit running during the update. Also make sure that the power leads are decently connected to your power source.

Hope this helps and good luck!

I don’t know how many of the retailers sell the AS-PC2 cables but I know that you can get them through the Humminbird Customer Resource folks (1-800-633-1468) if you are here in the U.S.
Be aware though that these were meant to be used with the smaller units, so if you are going to use them with 987 or 1197 series unit; you will have to figure out a better means of powering the unit.  Many will cut off the battery holder and connect it up to a rechargeable 12 volt battery to use while updating the unit.
