Connecting a Onix 10 SI to I pilot link
« on: April 14, 2014, 02:24:02 PM »
Had planned to buy a 1199, but decided to move up to the new technology. So, with a much depleted checking account, I have a new Onix 10, a Lakemaster V5 chip & a 80 lb Terrova with I pilot link & US2 in transit to me.
2 questions:  1. What cable do I need to connect the Onix to the I pilot link?  2. I have an older Humminbird 917 c (917 has no Ethernet capability) that I plan to connect to the US2 on the Terrova.  Is there a way for the US2 to be used with 917 c & the Onix?  If so how and what cables etc do I need?

Also, you really need an Onix specific forum!

The i-Pilot Link should come with the needed connection cable to your ONIX 10ci Si unit.

The only way for both the 917c and the ONIX 10ci Si unit can both use (not at the same time) the US2 transducer would be with a switch.  Humminbird does not make a switch for use with both of these types of transducer connectors so it would have to be something that you make yourself or you would have to buy a transducer switch, an adapter cable and the correct ONIX adapter cable for the US2.

Also, you really need an Onix specific forum!
Oh, Robert…  :D

Greg,

Thanks, I think I will pass on the switch for the 917c. It's a nice to have vs need to have.

Robert.....Hello Robert, wherever you are.  We need an Onix Forum!

Greg,

The Onix 10 and Terrova have arrived and I am in the process of hooking them up.  I have decided not to use the 917c as previously planned, but instead will hook the Terrova US2 sonar to the Onix 10.  Is there a cable (or cables) available that will allow me to hookup the US2 in conjunction with the Onix 10  SI?   I looked on the Humminbird website but could not find it.  I have trouble finding things in the accessories section of the site.

I don’t think it is listed on the Humminbird web site or at least not yet.  Try the Minn Kota MKR-US2-13 cable.  You should be able to order it through the Humminbird Customer Resource folks as well as the Minn Kota folks.
