Title: Computer Plotting program recommendations
Post by: finalapproach on June 28, 2012, 07:41:13 AM
Greatly appreciate recommendations on plotting software that can be used on my computer.  I fish offshore reefs and would like to plot waypoints on my computer and save them to my storage card and upload them into my 798.  Thanks in advance for your help

finalapproach, There are a host of NAV programs on the market that will work with HB units.

I use Navionics NavPlanner with $69.00 on ebay, and it is working well.

I fish out of Charleston SC and use the Navionics NavPlanner and  SONARTRX for the SI /DI on the reefs and wr's.

Love that inlet channel at Topsail Beach (**%++$#!!!). try that one at night, it will give you gray hair and a twitch!

i use open cpn, it's free, intuitive i make charts with drdepht, export them in ozi explorer and convert it in BSB.kap
no problem with scan or depht charts.
noaa charts are free, lot of applications (ais, wind, trace, waypoints...) are in this soft.

Thanks for the recommendations.  At least now I got a vector on the software that fits my needs.  Your right about Topsoil inlet.  Most of my time is spent in and out of Shallotte inlet and all during the day.  If I'm coming in at night there's a problem.
