998 and i-pilot link connections
« on: January 15, 2015, 08:23:44 PM »
I am going to put the i-pilot link system on my Terrova. Will I need a y cable of some sort to switch between the transducer on the trolling motor and the transducer on the stern for sideimaging, Di etc? I haven't received the system yet and just thought about this.
Thanks in advance.

I'm a little confused by your question.....are you talking about the I-pilot link communication, or the transducer connections.  That would be 2 different things.

What units do you have and where are they located?  We need more info about what you have and what you are trying to do.

I have a 998 on the dash and will be hooking the ethernet cable from the ipilot link to that. I think I am overthinking this. I believe the link communicates with the 998, via the gps in it and the us2 transducer in the Terrova, separate from the transducer mounted on the stern. No y cable needed?

No Y-cable needed.
The US2 is a separate system from the i-Pilot Link.

Thanks for the replies! As usual I was over thinking this. The 998 on the dash will be connected directly to the ipilot link via the ethernet cable and the 788ci, will be connected to the US2 as it was before, no link as the 788 is not ethernet compatible. Not going to buy a compatible unit at this time.
