999cXI vs 899cXi
« on: June 20, 2014, 06:36:46 PM »
Hello all, I did a quick search but did not find this exact comparison. I am debating whether to buy the 999cXI or the 899cXI. I am in Australia and the price difference is huge.

999cXI = $2799 RRP
899cXI = $1899 RRP

The fact we Aussies are getting ripped is a completely different discussion. My question is, are the side imaging shots on the 999 so much better than the 899? I primarily want the unit as a Chartplotter and for Side Imaging, as the boat has a good quality Furuno sounder already installed.

I believe the 999 may have HD Side Imaging but the 899 doesnt? Does the extra screen size make a difference to the quality of the side imaging picture?

Any advice would be appreciated.

And the 899 comes standard with a 455kHz SI transducer......HB will upgrade it to the HDSI for a nominal charge if you send it to them before opening it.
There is a software problem utilizing the 800khz right now, but I am sure HB will resolve it.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**
