788 ci combo downloads
« on: July 12, 2012, 10:29:19 PM »
Hello, does anyone know if the 1 available download on this site is the same as the one on the Humminbird website titled 788 ci combo? I just downloaded it { from humminbird} a while ago and have it on an SD card ready to put in the unit. If not, I wondered what the download on here dealt with. Guys I'm new to all this SD card stuff. Tell me, since I have the download from Humminbird on this card I have, can I put the download that's on this site on the card also and load them both into the unit? ;D any help I would sure appreciate.

If both updates are referencing the same software version, than they should be the same file.

Only have one software update file on the SD card at a time.  You don’t want to confuse the unit while it is updating the software or bad things can happen.

The download I have on my card from Humminbird is labeled 788 ci combo. The download on this site for my unit is labeled 5.4 ver. I was just wondering if they were the same or not. After I install the download from humminbird I have on the card now into my unit, could I then come back here with that same card and put the download on this site onto it and install it also? Do you have to erase the prior data somehow from that same card before you can use it again? I assume the one I downloaded from Humminbird may be the 4.7 ver. download?

The download from the Humminbird web site should be version 6.300 as this is the current software version available for a 788ci Combo unit.

Yes you can come back and download the 5.400 version software from this web site to the same memory card.  You should delete the download file from the Humminbird web site first though.  If you then load the 5.400 version software from this web site you will be rolling back the software in your 788ci Combo unit to an earlier version.

By the way, there was also a 5.840 version software update for the 788ci Combo units.  You will get all of the updates from these earlier versions if you load the current 6.300 version software.

No, the software for the 788ci  and 788ci HD will be different files – even if they contain the same changes. Domestic (U.S.) and International models may also have different software update files as well.  I don’t keep up with the current versions of software for the International model units, so you will have to check your My Humminbird account on the Humminbird web site.

Power your unit on (even with the boat out of the water).  Go to the Views menu and set the Self Test View to “Visible”.  Exit the menus and scroll through the available Views until you come to the System Status – Self test View.  The serial number of your unit will be about a third of the way down the screen on the left side.  The software it is running will be in the center of the screen.
