899 Questions
« on: February 04, 2015, 07:23:40 PM »
The machine is a 899ci HD SI. I want to upgrade to the HD transom mount transducer.

I'm confused on which one I need. Is it this one? Dual Beam Xhs 9 Hdsi 180 T 710201-1
If not, can someone tell me?

My second question is regarding the washout issue with the side imaging on the HD transducer. I'm referring to what I have read in this post:
 http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=7642.0

Will I have to send my machine in for a fix before I can use the SI in HD?

Thanks for any help, Joey

Yes, the XHS-9-HDSi-180-T transducer (7102001-1) is the High Definition transom mount Side Imaging transducer.  This would allow your 899ci HD Si unit to use the 800kHz Si/Di sonar.

Really the only way to know for sure if your 899ci HD Si unit has the 800kHz washout issue is by trying it on one of the HDSi transducer and view the 800kHz Si sonar.  You can call into the Humminbird Customer Service folks but they are basically going by a serial number/manufacturing date which will indicate that your unit may have this issue but not for a fact that it does have the issue.  If your unit does, it will have to come back to the factory to be serviced.

Because, as packaged, the system does not have the 800kHz frequency capability.
It is only when you connect an 800kHz capable transducer to the 899ci HD Si model unit that it can make and use the 800kHz sonar.

You should be able to speak with anyone who answers the phone about this, as they should all be aware of this issue.  Just be mindful that Mondays are the busiest time of the year for our Customer Service folks, so exercise some extra patience if you call in today or call back first thing (8:01 AM) Tuesday morning.

Hi Greg, My eyesight has diminished with age, and I have upgraded and purchased a 899cxi HD unit only a few days ago, and as yet, have not opened the box. After reading some of the topics in this forum relating to this unit, I want to upgrade the transducer to the 800Mhz model. Considering I already have the transducer that came with the 899, do I have to pay the full price for the upgraded version or can I exchange it for a bit more money? I live in Australia, and bought it from a reputable Hummingbird dealer. What is the normal process for the upgrade of the transducer?

I have not used this forum for a couple of years but still pay to be a charter member. The forum is the best for info about hummingbird products and I congratulate all those that give the very best advice to everyone wanting it. Keep up the great work.

Greg is covered up with regular training duties at the plant ...

You can trade in the stock XNT 9 SI 180 T that came with your 899 for the upgrade XHS 9 HDSI 180 T as long as the transom mount xducer hardware package has been unopened ... (there is a small upgrade fee) ...

As you are in Australia you should contact your reputable HB dealer to see how they handle this upgrade process ...

You can also contact Customer Service in Eufala to help you get the correct transaction details ...
