899 ci hd si questions
« on: August 10, 2014, 08:55:30 PM »
I am about to order a 899 unit.  Of all I have read, exchange the transducer for the HD model.  May have problems with the 800 Hz until Hummingbird gets it fixed or have they done that yet.   I have a Ranger 185vs, on all the new big rangers they have the transducer thru hull. Is that something that I should consider or just mount to transom. If anyone has pics of mounting transducer on a ranger please send.   The boat has an indash garmin (junk but reads depth and its a shoot thru hull)  will it interfere with the 899 unit.  The Ethernet hookup is it simple or do you have to have other parts to make it work (probably gonna get another next year).  Will the transducer for the 899 interchange for the 999 unit if decide to go bigger.

HB has been able to offer the fix for the 800kHz washout in the xx9 series units...(your future unit may already be fixed before you even get it)...

If the Garmin transmits at 200kHz ... There can be interference issues because the HB cannot shut off the 200kHz frequency except by turnin off the entire sonar sounder and leaving only the GPS operational ...

The XHS 9 HDSI 180 T comes stock with the 999/1199 ...

The XNT 9 SI 180 T (Compact SI xducer) can be used on the 999 but there will be no correct 800kHz frequency images from this xducer as the Compact SI xducer is 83kHz/200kHz (2d) and 455kHz (SI) only...
