V6.57 update NO GOOD
« on: January 05, 2013, 11:25:11 PM »
I saw some warnings on other boards about the v6.57 but I updated anyway. Now my units are screwed. SI scroll speed set at3 but scrolls at 10. 2d sonar and SI are not synced. If I try to slow down the screaming SI, the 2d is hardly moving. Nothing is synced and the SI is blurred beyond use.

Humminbird, please tell me how I can get the 6.49 updates so I can downgrade back to where I can use the units again? This 6.57 has both my 1198/998 unusable

All you have to do is call them and they will email it to you. If not, let me know and you can download it from my Dropbox account. I went back to 6.4

Did any of you actually use the 6.570 software on the water or was this just in the simulator mode?

I used it on the water. Scroll of the SI chart is noticeably faster.

I used on the water for 10 hours. Didn't have a choice. Took updates with me and updated at the ramp. Once on the water I realized I had a problem ad tested every setting tweak I could think of but nothing helped....

FYI, someone from Hbird emailed me and told me to make a recording before down dating back to 6.49. I'm not going to put 6.57 back on there, don't want to risk it. I wish I would have made recordings but I was a little aggravated to say the least all day, since it was a practice that I drove two hours for. Kind of hard to practice when you have 5k dollars worth of electronics that was just made useless by a bad update,,,,,,,

Recently we have released new software (6.57) for the Side Imaging units that incorporate the capability to run the revolutionary 360 and IPILOT LINK technologies. As we released this software we began to hear feedback related to the increased scroll rate on the SI screen. First, thank you for providing us with this type of feedback. Your feedback on this topic is absolutely on target. This wasn't an intentional change. This was something that resulted from the changes that were made to incorporate 360 imaging and should have been corrected. We take our commitment to provide you with excellent/ innovative products very seriously and I want to apologize to you, our valued Humminbird users, for this situation. We are working around the clock to resolve this issue and we will be releasing a new version of software for the Side Imaging models to resolve this issue in the very near future. Please stay tuned for a post to announce the release of the new version of software.

Thank you very much for your support of Humminbird Products.

Yet this update is still on the website..... at least for my 998c.... Offered to unsuspecting people for their units.... how many of them should have to go through a bad update in the name of sales? Sure going to leave a very bad taste in their mouths...

Official stance of HB seems to be don't roll back.... from all the reading I have done.....

HB people are offering to send rollbacks.....

If you don't roll back then you have a very expensive place holder on your boat if you are having the reported problems....

This is beginning to look like the "KEYSTONE COPS.... version of BUY 360 now at all costs" :o

BTW I don't do facebook and never will....

Why isn't this warning on the update web-site..... so I could see it if I was getting ready to do an update?

Or is it really not from Mark Gibson?

Just curious with a luckily un-updated 998c...

Our question to this is.....With what quality and will it be error free?
As the guys are saying.....can we trust new code and if not then how long must we wait for a comfort level...

So far in this thread and other forums, I have read mention of issues with:
 SI scroll and blurriness.
 2D scroll speed and accuracy.
 Losing transducer.
 GPS issues.
 Sonar recordings.
798ciHD Dual Beam transducer selection removed.

That's alot to address for a prompt resolution.
 It's going to be difficult.
