T,

Side Imaging is a registered trademark. The patent application can be found here (not sure if it's approved): http://www.freepatentsonline.com/y2006/0023570.html

As is well known to this community, sidescan technology has been around for decades in other areas, but it has not been available for fishfinding until recently.

Regards,
Rickard

This image needs some explaining for me, look at the side image notice the objects on the right and left side of the boat, then look at the down image and some one tell me how they are blended into this image.  I really like the side image, not sure if you could use the down image to tell wether object is on the right side or left side of boat.

You can see pretty easily in your example that the two side images (left-right) are merged into the DI image.
On the top of the SI image, you have 2 squares on the left and 3 on the right.
On the DI view, you can see the 5 squares...

You can’t use Down Imaging to tell if something is on the left or right side of the boat.  The Di sonar in the Si units is a blend of both the left and right Si sonar:
 - take the right Si sonar and rotate it 90 degrees clockwise.
 - take the left Si sonar and flip it horizontally (mirror image) and than rotate it 90 degrees clockwise.
 - overlay the two images and you have a Di sonar image.

I apologize Sonar2000.
Spellchecker did not catch that one.
I will try and do better at proofreading my replies.
I have modified my post.

I think 909 degrees would be better than 9099...darn keyboards.  You would think they could spell check or help us out when we hit too many keys.. ;D

Or possibly greasy fingers from Willie t's ::)

Hey, check out this tree I found in a local lake that I fish in Oklahoma.  I had the side image set on 800kz, pretty lucky to drive right over the top of it.  Can any one locate any fish around the tree in this screen shot.

Thanks

Hey, a great picture.  Yes there appears right off there are three fish of decent size in the branches of the tree..
What setting did you have.  SI distance, sensitivity, etc..

Really a good picture.  Thanks for the GPS.... ;D
