Topic: I have 898si, do I need 1198 or just 1158

Hi,
I'm thinking of moving my 898 si to the front of my boat, and looking at getting an 1100 series for the helm.  Should I get an 1198 or can I get an 1158 and run the side and down imaging through the 898 and 1158? 
Has anyone done something similar and what do you recommend?
If I need to get an 1198 can I put the side imaging transducer on my trolling motor, or do I need to run the original transducers with each unit?
I don't use a cable steer trolling motor and find that my transducer from my 700 series(which I have up front at the moment) gets tangled around the shaft and sometimes gets caught when I deploy and stow my trolling motor.
Does anyone have any tips or maybe even some photos?

You have to use "like" units if you are planning on sharing the transducer between them via the Ethernet.  (You can share transducers between the 898 and 1158 but you will only be able to share 2d sonar since the way a DI transducer works and the way a SI transducer works is different.)

898 and 1198 use the same transducer.

In this post I have some pictures of how I mounted up my TD on a Terrova TM.  Works great and been using it this way for almost 9 months now with zero issues.

If it was me I would purchase the 1198, I just installed an 1198 on my boat and I am very happy with it.  Saying that, a lot depends on on want you want to see. 

Not sure but the Down Imaging may be better on the 1158, but the 1198 has a combination of both SI and DI.
