Scott:

Here's one at Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Humminbird-WX-1-Satellite-Weather-Receiver/dp/B001J6N81W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341574254&sr=8-1&keywords=humminbird+as+wx-1+satellite+weather+receiver

Maybe not enough people are buying them and HB discontinued.
Greg, do you know anything about it?

You do realize that you will also have to get a monthly subscription from
Sirius?
I think the start up fee is 19.95 and a monthly fee of 9.95.
The only package available for the Humminbirds is called "Skywatch".
I think you can also just pay for the months that you need to use the system.
If you don't fish in the winter, no use paying for those months.

I have XM weather on my 1197, and it is fantastic.

I don't think there is any other way to get weather on an HB unit.

I purchased one and tried using it for a couple of months and it was a pain in the neck with its warnings.  I live in Oklahoma and there are frequent storms, including high winds and lightning.

I had hoped that this system would give me warnings when the weather was changing.  What I ended up with was a system that went off every ten minutes telling me it was too hot or too cold and it interfered with everything else.

I would expect that I am not alone after a few months I shut it down.  If they ever give us the control to decide on what we want to be warned about I would re set it up.

I would think that cell phone apps are the way to go today.
Cheaper and more reliable..

Yes,
There are a lot of warnings.
You can set the warning radius from I think 60 to 180 miles.
It's real-time weather showing your location and what's headed towards you.

It would be nice if we could exclude some of the warnings, such as heat
warnings, but I'm very happy with XM weather.

ITG is right: low sales got this pulled as an available accessory for us.

I think that Chuck hit the nail on the head though as I would bet that the use of smartphones and their cheaper apps too some possible sales away.

Will the 2013 models support the Hummingbird AS WX 1 weather module and will XM still offer a package for Hummingbird owners to use this application. I feel it is a useful tool.
Thanks to you all for helping me on this site; I am learning quite a bit with more to go...LOL.

Since other sonar manufacturers (Lowrance for one), offer XM weather, I would assume that Sirius
would not change things on their end.  I don't think that Sirius knows, or cares what brand of sonar their weather is being used on.  They just need the ID of the XM module/receiver to allow it to receive their weather signals.

I think it would be foolish for Humminbird to completely do away with the XM weather option, since they have offered it in the past.

I have it, and I'm totally impressed with it.  I couldn't emagine being on the water
without it.

No, I will hang on to it, I expect that at some point changes will be made to the program to allow us to remove the temperature warnings
