Network switch and Lund Crossover 1875
« on: June 03, 2014, 04:20:17 PM »
Just got my network switch (AS ETH 5PXG) today. Any Crossover guys have any mounting advice? Where to mount? Where to grab power from? Will be using it to connect two 899's one cock pit mounted and one bow mounted. Also have the Terrova with iLink to attach to the switch as well. Any help will be appreciated. The last piece of the puzzle to finish off my new boat.

Cheers Tom

My dealer rigged my 1875 Crossover and put it next to the battery box which is in the compartment just ahead of the console. (Note that I added the NMEA 2000 device and chose to put it where you see it.)

RPro,
Thanks a lot that looks like a great spot. It does give me a few more questions.   Did they take power off the battery there or run it to cock pit? If cock pit did they wire it to fuse panel? What does the NMEA 2000 device give you? Is this hooked up to your motor? Looks like you are running the 4 stroke 150 as well?

Thanks a lot for the help.

Cheers Tom

Not a Lund but I have a 14 Crestliner (made it the same plant).  Another option is to look under Drivers console I had a Automotive fuse panel open with fuses easy to view with several open ports that links to the master power switch.  That is where I pulled my power for my 899 and at the farm we happen to have laying around a 3 amp fuse to install for the 899. I have 3 more open slots to pull power and ground block all built in so if I was to pull a switch for future expantion I would mount it dry and under the drivers console and power into the same area.  both don't pull many amps.  I would think the Lund would do the same thing.

The connection to the starting battery that is under the rear jump seat in back runs under up to the console. I asked my dealer tonight and he said that it is connected there (under the console) and they added a fuse in the fuse box for it.
The NMEA 2K device simply adds extra screens to the HB - your choice of a data box screen or a number of gauges grouped together that provide engine and other info. See this link http://www.humminbird.com/Products/AS-ETH-NMEA2K/ and look in the lower right to open the English manual and turn to pages 27 - 36 to see these screens.
No, I'm running the 175 4 stroke super-charged VERADO.

Thanks for the replys guys. Turns out my dealer had everything wired all ready just had to mount and connect. They have me mounting under the trolling motor on front of boat. Fits good under there and will be dry. Where does the NMEA2K connect to the motor? Is there a connection under the console?

cheers Tom

Yes, I was just in a Ranger this evening at my dealer and they had that one under the trolling motor.
The NMEA2K connects through the NMEA 2000 backbone. Not certain you have a NMEA 2000 backbone. I have one because I have the MercMonitor and it is included with that.
Note that mine is not hooked up yet but only mounted at this point. My boat will be going back to the dealer next week for some final things.
Lots to read and learn about in regards to the NMEA 2000 and I'm not all the way there yet in my knowledge by any means. Note that Mercury has just recently (in the last year or two) decided to move away from what was their own thing and become NMEA 2000 compliant. Their certification is pending I believe.

Yeah I just went thru the manual and the one thing I wanted it doesn't show is engine hours. I don't have merc monitor so its a no go for me. Once again thanks for the replies and info. Much appreciated.
