Title: Helix si and puck transducer y cable

I read alot of people use a y cable to install a puck transducer to read at high speeds. but they install the si transducer to where its out of the water while on plain. but wouldnt that hurt the transducer if it out of the water? Im confused on this subject.

It's unlikely our low wattage SI xducers would be damaged by transmitting while out of the water  ...

Those scenarios are more commonly heard of in the high wattage CHIRP xducers (2-3Kw) that can generate heat and need the water as cooling for the housing  ...

It is possible to easily shut off the imaging piezoes (in the SI xducer) by selecting "HB 83/200kHz" in the Connected Transducer Menu under the Sonar tab (if one feels more comfortable doing so)  ...
