bad interlink?
« on: February 16, 2012, 07:26:30 PM »
I had a 798 at the bow and a 997 on the console.  I purchased a used 997 for the bow and had my dealer replace the 798 with it.  The antenna was hooked directly to the interlink.  After the 997 replaced the 798, I was unable to get a GPS signal.  The accessory test screen said the GPS and the interlink were unconnected.  Since I have a bow and transom antenna, I asked them to hook the antennas to each individual unit and then to the interlink.   We did this and now only the interlink is unconnected.  The tech thinks the interlink is bad or it is not getting power.  It worked fine before the 798/997 switch.  He also asked how the interlink gets power.  Any help is appreciated.  Sorry for the long post.

Have you tried connecting the interlink to 1 unit first then adding the 2nd one? The interlink gets it power from the network connection. I just wonder if you're up to date on the unit software....

So, you have dual 997 right now with 2 external antennas.  Have you tried just having 1 unit connected to see if the interlink shows up?

that was the way it started when I picked the boat up from the dealer.  One antenna hooked to the interlink and from there to the units.  When it could not find the interlink or Gps signal and asked them to hook the units to each antenna and then to the interlink.  We got the units to recognize the antennas but it does not recognize the interlink.
