Topic: SI got me a bass!

Went fishing today in 45 air temp and 40* water. Couldnt find any fish in the usual spots.

Decided to explore around a bit with the trolling motor and saw this. Stoped the motor, mrked it, and cast back right with a jig and craw. Got a nice 18" LM. Only fish of the day. I searched for the school again and could not find them.

Not sure if that is a school of baitfish or bass. Any ideas?

Never would have tries here (middle of nowhere) if not for the side imaging.

I'm looking foward to a good year with the HB 898Ci Si.

Great pict!  It looks liek it could be bass schooling from the size of the shadows.  In the second set of images, there may be some individual fish near the bottom but hard to say.

If you would bring your range in some you would be able to see the individual ones a little better.  Rule of thumb, especially if you are scanning with 800khz, is keep the range at 2 to 3 times your depth.
