Topic: Firmware will not download

 I am trying to download older firmware for my 998c and cannot make it work.  I didnot realize until I updated HB firmware, that the DrDepth will not work with the new version....now I need to go back.  I have been at this for two days and tried downloading almost all of the software from the download center. Most of the time the files will not transfere to my computer.  On one occasion i got 5.4 to download but then when I put the card in the unit, it will not recognize and load the software. Anybody know what is going on?

Welcome to the Side Imaging Forums pfleming (first time poster!), sorry that you are having problems with this.

You may have to give a little more detail on what you are doing so that someone else (who knows a little more about computers) can assist you with this.  The files should download without a problem to an SD card.  Sometimes a firewall, anti-virus software or slow connection speed can cause problems.

What I do know is that you should not attempt to load a version of software that is older than what your 998 unit was originally built with.  If you do not know what software version this is I would not try loading anything older than the 6.490 version.  You can contact the Humminbird Customer Resource folks and tell them your full model name and serial number and they should be able to tell you what software version your unit was built with.

Thank you very much for your reply Greg.  I finally figured it out just a little while ago.  It was some problem with windows explorer.  I switched browser to google chrome and it downloaded and installed beautifully.  And thanks for the tip on the version.  I installed 5.5 and it is back to working great.
