ACD Files Editing
« on: August 20, 2015, 05:17:28 PM »
Anyone into editing the .acd files? There's got to be a better way that picking single data points for deletion.
What does the "decimate data" icon do? There are areas of my map that I would just rather re-map. Just about all of my bad data points are from my first uses when I just recorded everything all day even with a drifting and turning boat. (I've learned better now to control turns and stop recording when drifting)

When you do "Map here",

after you should see all your track points on the map

with click to a point that you want to edit and right click the mouse and chosse get data i think, 3rd option from the top.. this will detect the ACD to edit and remove the data you need, dont forget after saving ACD file to re-export the ACD to track file (.HT)

OK, after editing and updating the 6 month old zero lines card, I inserted the card into my yr. old 999HD SI nothing happened. I looked at the card again on my PC and it was empty. I sent it back to HB for a new one. I copied my backup AC & Records folders to the new zero lines card and now my 999 crashes when I change the base map to AC. It only crashes in one of the chart views. HB says send the whole thing to them for a $320 service charge. Bought my first HB over 30 yrs ago (Super 30) and an very disappointed they don't seem to know much about this card. Anyone with a similar experience? Can I delete all but the Lakemaster folder and try mapping all over? I don't believe the 999 is the problem.

First,
You don't want to edit or delete anything from your original ZeroLines SD card.  From the factory, there should be a LkMaster folder and an AC folder on the card.
Before doing anything in AutoChart, you should be able to insert the card into a depthfinder, and it will display the shoreline data for millions of lakes.
Once you've got some recordings and track files with some depth data, then you can begin creating a map with that data in AutoChart.

It sounds to me like you've done some messing around with the files that were on the ZeroLines SD card.  That would be your problem most likely.

I have been successful in creating a new map.  Here's the best way to do it for someone with little AutoChart experience.  On you ZeroLines SD card, rename the AC folder to AC1.  Create a new AC folder.  Do not do anything with the LkMaster folder, leave it intact.  Then you should be able to go into AutoChart, and recreate your custom depth map from your saved sonar data.

Thanks for the help.
I read about renaming these files elsewhere but assumed, since everything I did was through the Autochart PC software, how could a file get corrupted. The editing I did was data points only within the Autochart PC software. Now, I'm leery of ever editing data points again.
AC basemap no longer crashes my HB, but AC1 still does. OK to delete AC1 after on-lake testing, I assume?    thanks again!

Yes, okay to delete AC1 now as long as your AC folder/map is working fine for you.  I've deleted several AC folders over my time with AutoChart.

Follow my tutorial on how to edit data points.  I don't see any way of editing or messing up the AC or LkMaster folder through AutoChart, but you must have managed to find a way.  I've had no problems like you mentioned.
