Does the transducer need to be plugged in to turn it on?

It would be a good idea to turn the Sonar off as soon as it powers on to keep the transmitters from firing with no xducer attached ...

As soon as the unit is operating - short press the power button and select "Sonar off" ...

You can run the unit in Simulator endlessly with no xducer attached ...
