Brightness adj. 998c si hd
« on: May 17, 2013, 07:02:54 PM »
I need to find the brightness adj. on this unit. It should be better brightness than last years model. My fishing buddy has a 700 model and it's very bright.

Thanks MidTin

After the unit is running...press the "Power" button 1 time briefly and the menu for "Brightness" and "Sonar On/Off" should be there....

I thought that is for back lighting for night use. I should have said screen brightness. In the sun it's hard to see and i thought the 2013 mod's were going to be brighter.

Thank you for your reply--Midtin

On the SI and DI view increasing the sensitivity will brighten the image...

But other than that and the backlight brightness I mentioned above...I think it is what it is...

I would still try to find someone that has a 2013 HD and test on your boat...(stuff happens)

This would give a definitive result to show if there is a problem in your system...

Midtin,
Does your unit state that it is a “998c Si Combo” or a “998c HD Si Combo” unit when you turn it on?

I had to check: they all state "998c SI Combo" in the start up screen when you turn them on.  If the serial number states that it is an "HD" unit than it should be an HD unit.

How can i tell if the serial number states if it is HD or not?
I thought the background on the new models were different than the older mod's.and were to be brighter and easier to read.

Thanks again for your interest and help---MT

Check the "System Status" screen...

Power on the unit..
When the welcome screen opens...press "Menu"...
Of the 3 choices that show...choose "System Status"..

Midtin,
Guess I should have stated that the serial number label should show whether it is an HD version unit or not.  Above the actual serial number should be printed the model of the unit.  Yours should state 998C HD SI.  I got the CRC folks to run your serial number and it is coming up as an HD version unit.
