Attention Greg:
There is a boat icon in the center of the round viewing scope on the 360.
If I mount the 360 on the transom, and it shows a target exactly 90 degrees
to the right of the center of the boat icon, should I cast to the right, exactly where the middle of the boat is, or cast to the right directly in line with the transom?

If you have a 16 foot boat, then it seems it would make a difference of where
the 360 is mounted on the boat as far as the relationship to the boat icon and targets shown on the viewing scope.  I would think that a larger boat would make much more of a difference.

ITG,
You  would cast right directly in-line with the 360.

I knew the answer to this as soon as I read it but do you think that's what I've been doing?  Noooo!  A three o'clock target has been getting a three o'clock cast from the middle of my boat. Sheesh I've been missing the targets all along!  Sometimes it's just the smallest thing.  I feel like an idiot now.

Thanks for this post ITG!

I think I recall on the update 6.74 for units had a 360 offset in the menu. It will show an additional icon representing your actual position in relation to the 360 unit.(if your boat is 20' and your transom mount is 20' in back of you you put a +20 in and your position icon appears on the screen. Bob,
That would be fantastic if that option would be made available.
I guess for me, my boat is 16', so I would set the offset to be 8'.
I would want the middle of the circle to be directly
to the side of the middle of the boat.

I believe that would be the “360 Offset” menu which is found within the “360 Settings” menu under the Accessories menu tab.
Not sure when it was added.

That offset goes backward on the TM360, I was hoping it would go both ways. I wanted it to mark the end of my 16' poles when spider rigging but it assumes that I'm casting.

Shouldn't there be an option for -minus distance for transom mount? The manual says the offset should be the difference between the 360 and the HS puck. I thought you would want the boat icon to be in the middle of the screen.

The "circle" center is the position of the transducer. That can't be changed because that is where the pings are created. Minus would be behind the transom. The bow where you are casting from is a plus.

How come when you add offset the boat icon moves back behind the transducer center? I want the transducer to under the boat icon so the boat is in the center.

Don't add or subtract and the boat is the icon. The boat stays in the middle.

But the transducer is roughly 8ft behind me on the transom.

The easiest way I can explain it is on my boat 14ft. I have the gps on the Rear transom and the 360 is a transom mount.  I have the rings set up for 15 ft.  The boat icon shows up in the middle of the inner ring and I see my trolling motor right at the front of the boat at the 15 ft ring.    You will adjust the + or - based on where your gps is in relation to your 360 (bow mount or transom  mount) not where your depths finder is located.
