Title: SD Card Partitioning - Chart Select - Helix 12
Post by: F1veAl1ve on August 05, 2016, 02:11:10 PM
Fellow Tinkerer's and O.O.T.B. Thinkers...

I was wondering if anyone that is using individual Chart Select Maps has tried partitioning a SD card so that is can appear as multiple cards, thereby allowing you to encrypt each partition and load multiple lakes onto a single card. Example, partition an 8GB card into [8] 1GB partitions so that [8] Chart Select Maps could be installed on a single card.

I realize that SD cards are relatively inexpensive, but call me crazy, it would just be nice to not have to switch cards and all the risks that come with losing or ruining a card once you take it out. I have [2] Helix 12's and have the SmartStrike card at the console, but it just haven't had enough "single" lakes needed yet to justify buying another LakeMaster MN chip for the bow.

I have no idea if my Helix 12 would even be able to recognize multiple "drives" on a single card, but if this was possible it would be convenient and make purchasing multiple single lakes more cost effective because as it stands now with the need to have an SD card for each lake, if you need more that 5 individual lakes for your State or region than it is better to just buy the full LakeMaster card.

I also doubt that the unit would recognize multiple drives in one card slot ..... but, give it a shot and let us know.
